Rat Infestation

Rats are elusive and suspicious creatures and it can be difficult to verify that there is an infestation. There are a number of signs that people will notice if they are dealing with an infestation. The most obvious will be the sight of a rat, alive or dead. People may also notice their urine or droppings in various areas of the house. They also leave behind dirt and grease marks along walls, floorboards, and around the holes, they are coming and going through.

These signs listed above are more obvious, but it is possible that the signs may not be so obvious, and a homeowner may need to inspect things a little more closely. Rats will leave evidence of a run, or well-established path that they will use over and over again. These runs will be left in the grass or vegetation around the home. They are also going to gnaw incessantly because their front teeth are constantly growing, and the gnawing keeps them from getting too long. This will leave extensive damage to various types of building materials. These marks will be large and rough looking.

If an infestation is suspected, the best course of action is to hire a professional. They will have the knowledge necessary to assess the situation, the best traps to trap these intelligent creatures and know how to advise the homeowner concerning exclusion so that it doesn’t happen again.
